Boulder or bust

Durango was so great, it is beautiful there and we had such a wonderful time with the Robinettes. Their home is GORGEOUS (Alex designed) and the company and scenery were incredible. Love Durango. The kids had a blast, the mini-Robinettes are such sunny, loving kids -- Skyler had so much fun. I had some great runs with pretty awesome scenery and Marc, Alex, and Robbie enjoyed the lovely weather on their bikes.

The drive from Durango to Boulder went OK until Skyler pried the DVD player apart and it stopped working. THEN it got really, really long. Really, really long. Luckily I had "Elmo's Monster Maker" on my iPhone - that bought us about 45 minutes. Of a 7 hour car trip. HA! But we made it safely and that is always a blessing.

Boulder is lovely as usual and even more fun this year now that Sky can be my little adventure compatriot. Though sometimes this compatriot is not so willing, and I have to sling her over my shoulder, like today when we grocery shopped with her hanging upside down over my shoulder. She is a willful (!!!!!!) little one. She likes to say "ummm" and then spin on her heels and run the opposite direction. Really fast. Which is a little stressful when trying to hike her and Sue in an area that has had recent mountain lion sightings!

I prepaid a hefty ($$$) deposit at a preschool that came highly recommended only to send her there two days and decide I wasn't feeling it. Lovely location, awesome yard, and really a nice owner. But, I could not get it out of my head that she was going to wander out their front door. It just wasn't adequately child-proofed. And a little too chaotic. So, I totally lucked out and found another (highly recommended) tiny little Montessori just a three minute walk down the street where she can go for a couple hours in the morning and hang with some buds. She went today and loved it. Sweet!

Miss our friends and family, looking forward to seeing you soon!!! OXOXO

Mayos head for cooler temps 2010

Hi friends!!
So, we excitedly piled in the car Wednesday afternoon, and semi-rushed out of town to beat the incoming monsoon and possibly hit Balmorhea Springs before dark. But, the rain was quick on our heels so we pulled off in Fort Stockton and hunkered down in a Comfort Inn for the night. Oh, except all the pet-friendly rooms were sold out in the area, so Sue agreed to sleep in the car. He is SO agreeable.

The next day was another 7+ hrs to Santa Fe, where we hit up the Whole Foods and then on to the lovely cottage at Alexander's Inn we always enjoy so much. They are so super-cool and eco-friendly (plus pet friendly) too. Sweet deal. From there to 10k Waves, where about 3 minutes in I started to wonder if hot tub temperatures were kid friendly. No cell reception up there meant that I couldn't Google, so Sky and I piled back in the car while Marc enjoyed a nice quiet hour of hot tub, cold plunge, and dry sauna. I don't think he missed us too badly...
For dinner we hit up the most rad little restaurant/yoga studio/spa/eco-friendly boutique/fitness studio which had a crazy-extensive menu of vegan, raw, organic options. I embarrassed Marc with how much I ordered, but he wasn't complaining when he went diving for the leftovers later that night. They even had an eco-organic-y day care in there for their patrons. Super rad.
The next day my easily-amused-self downloaded a new app for my Iphone called Imapmyrun that surely has been around since the 90's, but whatever it was new to me and I followed a little blue line on my phone for 7 miles around Santa Fe that I never would have been able to venture solo. Sweet!!
Four-ish hours took us to Durango, where we have been delighting in the company of our good friends the Robinettes. They are so fun and the kids are having a blast together. Durango is so cool, too. Plus Jess and Lisa came for a visit, and Sky enjoyed her Uncle Jess time a lot, especially when he took us down for a soak in the river.
Tomorrow I think we are going to check out a cool hike and the fireworks, Happy Fourth to our friends and family.. be safe and we love you!!!!
